Weekend Recap

This weekend my brother and his new Fiance came to visit! We hadn't seen them since they got engaged or  got their new puppy, so we were very excited! A big part of the trip was to introduce my dogs to their new puppy Jake. Our lab can be very protective and doesn't always like bigger dogs, so this was going to be a real test. The second they met, I think my Graycee girl fell in love. They got along great and it was a huge relief. Jake is still very much a puppy with all his energy, so he was still running rapid when my girls were ready for a nap. Jake did learn quickly not to mess with Graycee when she was napping. But overall it was a successful weekend with all the pups. My girls literally slept allll day after jake had left.

Saturday night we went to the Columbus Crew game. We had a blast even though they lost, but we still got to watch a decent fireworks show.

House update

So we have been very busy lately between all the house projects and family visiting. We have officially started the process of finishing the basement. It is Hubs goal to have his movie theater done by the time football season starts. Thankfully he has the summer off since he works at a school, so if you need him, he will be down in the basement.

We just recently bought a bunch of new furniture that will actually fit in this gigantic house and look like it belongs. For now we have been using older furniture that has been through the military life with us and traveled from coast to coast. It was about time we get some new stuff.

The current project being done is our patio. I have no idea what the previous owners were thinking, but what they created was definitely not a patio. It had more weeds and grass than the yard and you couldn't sit out there without feeling like you were going to fall backwards from all the unevenness.

I also recently redid a table my grandpa gave me and made it into my new office desk. I did a lot of experimenting, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It was just the right amount of rustic and distressness I wanted.

I also have to share my excitement of finally finding lamps for our bedroom. I have had my heart set on crystal lamps for awhile, but they can be crazy expensive. Since I am such an avid Homegoods shopper, I have been keeping my eye out and waiting for the right ones to come along. I found many I liked, but of course there was only one lamp. Finally last night I went for a quick check in and there they were. They were exactly what I was looking for and hold on guess how much they were?... only $40. Normally these babies can be around $200 each and home goods usually has them for $70 each. But boy was it my lucky day. Hubby isn't too sure about them, but he gets the basement for his man cave and I get the lamps I want. Done deal.

Here is a new piece of furniture we bought for the front entry way

The table I refurnished. The office is coming along, just need to find the right artwork piece for behind the desk

Here are the lamps I finally found! The mirrored night stand is also a Homegoods find. They are usually at least $800, but I got it for less than a third of that!

Here is the hideous patio that is currently being torn down and redone, thankfully!

And finally we cant forget about our adorable puppies! Here they are on the way home from the vet.

Special Weekend

So this was a very special weekend for my brother, he proposed to his girlfriend! I took a quick trip home to help out and be a part of the special day. He has been planning this for awhile and I even got to help him pick out the ring! Here is a little play by play of how the day went...

She woke up to a letter letting her know this was going to be a very special day for her and to be ready by a certain time....

Then my mom and I showed up at her house and gave her the next letter. She was shocked that I was there and then she learned we were there to take her shopping for a new outfit.

Shopping was a breeze and we found an outfit in no time. We actually found many dresses that looked great on her, but we decided on a classic black dress from J. Crew.

We took her back home where she was given the next letter saying she was going to lunch with her dad.

(I dont have any pictures)

The next letter let her know she was going to get her nails done with her mom.

Then she had some time to relax and get ready for the big night.

Her brother drove her down to the JW Marriott downtown.
My brother worked here a few summers ago when it was being built so it was sentimental to him.
He was able to get the presidential suite that had an amazing view overlooking the whole city.
He had decorated the room with candles and flowers for her.

Here is the happy engaged couple!

Im so happy they found each other and now I get to finally have the sister I have always wanted!

I am looking forward to all the wedding plans!

Ps. sorry this is a week old, but I had a super busy week finishing our basement (post to come)

Just a week after their engagement, they went and picked up their new baby Jake!

Weekly Favorites

So I thought I would start doing a post on my weekly favorites. I love finding new ideas, products, and recipes from others, so I thought I would share mine.

Pinterest. Lets  be honest, who doesn't just love Pinterest. It is safe to say that I am completely obsessed and I can be on it for hours at a time. Since we bought the house, I have been going crazy with new ideas.

You know I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am glad Pinterest wasn't around when I was planning my wedding because I would of went overload with too many ideas

You can follow me on pinterest here

Here are a few products I have fallen in love with this week.

You can find this adorable sandals here

Loving this ombre shirt
you will love this little boutique

The thing I love about pinterest is that I find the cutest clothing stores from it.

The downside of Pinterest is you can find the cutest shirt or product and when you click on the link it leads to nothing, total bummer.

I did pick up this cute bracelet that I found on Etsy here

Etsy is another website I am totally obsessed with.

Dolce and  Gabbana. The One.

When I went home over the weekend my mom was going through her perfumes and she gave me this one...

I absolutely love the scent and what I like most is that I can spray in the morning and smell it on me throughout the day

And with a total change of subject...

Pocket Hose

We have been doing a lot of landscaping around the house lately
and it may be funny looking, but the pocket hose really works.

Weekend Recap

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! I sure did! We decided to take advantage of my husbands 4 day weekend and go home to spend time with family in Indiana. The last few times we have been home we pack in so many plans into a few days so it was nice just to be home and relax on the lake. Here is a recap in pictures...

Marlee's first experience with downpour rain
and she wasn't quite sure what to think about it

On our way home... so glad the pups love car rides
(after 2 cross country roads trips they better!)
idk why it flipped the picture sorry

One of the best things about coming back to our little town
is seeing all the flags flying when you go across the bridge

and of course seeing this sweet boy, Dylan

Spent an afternoon shooting all our new guns, but my Glock will always be my fav

Here is a BA video of my husband shooting his new shotgun

It seriously melts my heart that the pups choose to sleep like this...

Marlee's fav spot is on the back porch where see can stare at the birds and squirrels all day long
(she is the type of dog where she would be outside all day if I let her, but then she will come in at night and sleep in your bed and share your pillow, spoiled?)

and I dont know it is about this couch, but she turns into a cat

Spent Sunday relaxing on the porch reading my book with the pups, doesn't get much better than that

Weekend Recap

The focus of this weekend was to tackle the landscaping. When we moved into the house there was zero landscaping. They had a few bushes, but they were sad and needed to go. So we started from scratch and we are very happy with the results. I am not much of a gardner, so we wanted to do something low maintenance. We pretty much gutted all the old landscaping because there was so many weeds, it was very unleveled, and it was all just rocks. We started out by killing/ pulling all the weeds and prepping the area. We just planted some flowers and mulched, and boy what a difference. We always said when we bought our first house we would plant a tree our first summer there and watch it grow over the years. Of course we picked a Buckeye tree. The only problem with that is the nuts are poisonous so we had to keep it away from the dogs. In the third picture you will see our baby buckeye tree! See the trasformation for yourself...

see our Buckeye tree in the left corner...

I got the two big pots from Costco...
can you spot my weirdo Husband?

Surprising Mom

So for Mother's Day this year I decided to surprise my mom by coming home. It was so hard keeping the secret from her and there were many times throughout the week where I almost slipped. My Dad was in on the surprise. (I thought it would be smart so he didn't think someone was breaking into the house and get his gun out) We got to their house around midnight on Friday and my Mom was so surprised! Not only was it nice to see my mom, but it feels good to be able to just drive over to see family and not be cross country from them anymore. We had a super busy weekend planned. My mom thought it was going to be a relaxed quite weekend, but we had other plans. We went to the Pacers game on Saturday and had a blast! We sat court side 2nd row and it was neat to see all the players up close. Btw, they are super tall! Sunday was Mother's day of course and we had planned to go to the suite at the race track. We got pit passes and were able to walk around and see all the behind the scenes stuff. We had a nice time and I am so thankful to have such a supporting Mom. Now for pictures of course!

The pups LOVE sitting on Grandma's porch!

Gotta love Mom!

NC Trip

So last week we took a spontaneous trip to North Carolina. When my hubs was in the Marines, we were stationed there for 2 years and we became very close with a great group of people. After a deployment everyone got pcs'd and we all went our separate ways. Well it was a good time for everyone as most of them were just home from another deployment, so we decided to meet up and have a little reunion. It felt so weird to be back to where we used to live and so many things have changed. Of course once we moved, all the good restaurants and shops came, but o well. But nice for hubby and I to remember and relive all the good memories we had from living there. We met up with everyone the first night and cooked out on the beach and played some beach volleyball, it was a blast! We did lots of shopping and just caught up with everyone. It was def good to see everyone and how they have grown and we plan on making it a yearly thing to get together.
