New cabinet

Well things are still crazy around here with all the house projects. I just wanted to give a shout out to my wonderful Husband for putting together this new cabinet for the dog room. Yes I said dog room, they are that spoiled that they have their own room, but more on that later. Anyways we found this cabinet at Target and it was perfect to store all the dogs' stuff. We could hide the dog food bin while still displaying cute pics and their crazy amount of treats. It still amazes me how much stuff they have for being dogs. Here are a few pics of the cabinet building process.

The pups decided to take a nap while Dad did all the work

Up next... meet the dogs post...

Painting the House

You never really realize how many paint colors there are or how are it is to choose until you have to paint your whole house. When we purchased this house, it was a foreclosure so it needed some love and cosmetic work done. Our first project was to paint the house and here is why:

Isn't it the most hideous thing you have seen?
Plus it was the first thing you saw when you walked in the house so it was the first thing that needed to go. I can imagine that the previous owners loved it and took a lot of time to make it, but its not our taste.

So back to choosing paint colors. We wanted to keep the house pretty neutral and add color by the pillows, pictures, and all that good stuff. We decided on gray since it is the new tan and you would think that would be an easy color to pick. But then you walk into the paint store and realize there really are 50 shades of gray. It was actually very hard deciding on the right gray. Some are either too brown or have a blue hue to them. We finally just had to make a decision and I couldn't be happier with our choices. For the foyer we went with a little darker gray because it is such a big room with tons of light. I will post more pictures once things are more completed but here is a before and after shot of the foyer.

The color is Sherwin Williams Pewter Gray
In the pics it looks lighter than it really is, but it is a true gray color

Many more house pictures to come once the painters are complete....

My First Post!

Well I have been wanting to blog for awhile now and I finally decided it was time to hop on the blog train and create one! Life lately has been so crazy and with many new changes and adventures to come, I figured a blog would be a great way to document it all.

So here is a little bio on myself. My name is Andrea Hird. I am 20 years old, originally from Indiana and just recently moved to Lewis Center, OH. I am married to my wonderful husband of 2 1/2 years John. He served his country  for 5 years as military police in the Marine Corps. We have two dogs Graycee, a lab, and Marlee, a beagle/basset with blue eyes. (You will see LOTS of pictures of them, so I apologize now haha). We recently bought a house and we so very excited for the journey of homeownership. Along with that, we are transitioning into the civilian life after 5 years of training, deployments, goodbyes, and moving multiple times in the Military. We are excited to be able to finally settle in new town and set down some roots. Why did we choose Ohio? Well thats easy, my husband is a HUGE Ohio State fan. After being together for 6 years, I have come to love his passion for Ohio State just as much as I love him. We lived far away from all our family while we were in the Military and we def didn't want to move back to our small hometown where everyone knows everyone and all their business. So Ohio is close enough and just a short drive to see family. We look forward to starting a family in our new home and all the adventures life is going to bring us in our new town. So join me in our new adventure of civilian life, homeownership, and all that life will bring in our future.
