Weekend Recap

This weekend my brother and his new Fiance came to visit! We hadn't seen them since they got engaged or  got their new puppy, so we were very excited! A big part of the trip was to introduce my dogs to their new puppy Jake. Our lab can be very protective and doesn't always like bigger dogs, so this was going to be a real test. The second they met, I think my Graycee girl fell in love. They got along great and it was a huge relief. Jake is still very much a puppy with all his energy, so he was still running rapid when my girls were ready for a nap. Jake did learn quickly not to mess with Graycee when she was napping. But overall it was a successful weekend with all the pups. My girls literally slept allll day after jake had left.

Saturday night we went to the Columbus Crew game. We had a blast even though they lost, but we still got to watch a decent fireworks show.

House update

So we have been very busy lately between all the house projects and family visiting. We have officially started the process of finishing the basement. It is Hubs goal to have his movie theater done by the time football season starts. Thankfully he has the summer off since he works at a school, so if you need him, he will be down in the basement.

We just recently bought a bunch of new furniture that will actually fit in this gigantic house and look like it belongs. For now we have been using older furniture that has been through the military life with us and traveled from coast to coast. It was about time we get some new stuff.

The current project being done is our patio. I have no idea what the previous owners were thinking, but what they created was definitely not a patio. It had more weeds and grass than the yard and you couldn't sit out there without feeling like you were going to fall backwards from all the unevenness.

I also recently redid a table my grandpa gave me and made it into my new office desk. I did a lot of experimenting, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It was just the right amount of rustic and distressness I wanted.

I also have to share my excitement of finally finding lamps for our bedroom. I have had my heart set on crystal lamps for awhile, but they can be crazy expensive. Since I am such an avid Homegoods shopper, I have been keeping my eye out and waiting for the right ones to come along. I found many I liked, but of course there was only one lamp. Finally last night I went for a quick check in and there they were. They were exactly what I was looking for and hold on guess how much they were?... only $40. Normally these babies can be around $200 each and home goods usually has them for $70 each. But boy was it my lucky day. Hubby isn't too sure about them, but he gets the basement for his man cave and I get the lamps I want. Done deal.

Here is a new piece of furniture we bought for the front entry way

The table I refurnished. The office is coming along, just need to find the right artwork piece for behind the desk

Here are the lamps I finally found! The mirrored night stand is also a Homegoods find. They are usually at least $800, but I got it for less than a third of that!

Here is the hideous patio that is currently being torn down and redone, thankfully!

And finally we cant forget about our adorable puppies! Here they are on the way home from the vet.

Special Weekend

So this was a very special weekend for my brother, he proposed to his girlfriend! I took a quick trip home to help out and be a part of the special day. He has been planning this for awhile and I even got to help him pick out the ring! Here is a little play by play of how the day went...

She woke up to a letter letting her know this was going to be a very special day for her and to be ready by a certain time....

Then my mom and I showed up at her house and gave her the next letter. She was shocked that I was there and then she learned we were there to take her shopping for a new outfit.

Shopping was a breeze and we found an outfit in no time. We actually found many dresses that looked great on her, but we decided on a classic black dress from J. Crew.

We took her back home where she was given the next letter saying she was going to lunch with her dad.

(I dont have any pictures)

The next letter let her know she was going to get her nails done with her mom.

Then she had some time to relax and get ready for the big night.

Her brother drove her down to the JW Marriott downtown.
My brother worked here a few summers ago when it was being built so it was sentimental to him.
He was able to get the presidential suite that had an amazing view overlooking the whole city.
He had decorated the room with candles and flowers for her.

Here is the happy engaged couple!

Im so happy they found each other and now I get to finally have the sister I have always wanted!

I am looking forward to all the wedding plans!

Ps. sorry this is a week old, but I had a super busy week finishing our basement (post to come)

Just a week after their engagement, they went and picked up their new baby Jake!
